Description

Lowry’s Farm was a two-story house with single-story extensions and adjacent outbuildings. The house, located on Lowry’s Lane off the Ballykillaire Road in Bangor, County Down, was recorded in a First Survey card dating from 1834, when it appeared on Ordnance Survey maps as "Belle Vue." The roof was slated, with valley and gable ends, and chimneys were rendered. The walls were rendered, lined, and partially painted. The south front featured five ground-floor and four first-floor flush and sash windows without astrays. A central, slated and gabled porch projected from the front. The recessed doorway was framed by an elliptical arch, above which was a three-pane fanlight, flanked by two-pane side lights and a panelled door. The condition of the building was described as "poorish," with the main house measuring approximately 50 feet wide. In 1972, the building was in use as “holiday homes.” The building has since been demolished and replaced by a residential development. It is not listed for architectural or historical interest, and the listing is recorded as a partial survey only.
