Description

A modern primary school, built in 1959, stands on the west side of Abbey Road in Millisle, Newtownards, County Down. The school, possibly designed by Smith & Carson of Belfast, is part single-storey and part two-storey. It is primarily constructed of reddish-brown brick with extensive areas of large, glazed windows framed with metal. Some of the glazed areas are accompanied by panels of timber and fibreglass. The main entrance is located on the north-west side of the building. The majority of the school has a gabled pan tile roof, though a smaller section to the south-west features a flat roof, as do some sections to the north. A two-storey section is located to the north-east. The school yard is situated to the rear (south), with Portacabins positioned immediately to the south of the main building.
