O'Neill Vault, Drummaul Parish Churchyard, Church Road, Randalstown, Co Antrim

This is an early 19th-century mausoleum, built around 1838 at a cost of £500 by Lord O’Neill as a family burial place. It is located within the graveyard of Drummaul Parish Church, in a prominent position near the church building, and is enclosed within a sandstone-flagged area bordered by a low plinth wall topped with ironwork railings. The railings feature anthemion motifs alternating with spear-like finials. An entrance gateway faces south, and inside are two large stone blocks fitted with iron rings to provide access to the vault below; one of these blocks is fractured. Two domical stone blocks with perforations, likely for ventilation, are positioned in front of and behind the tomb. The tomb itself stands on a stepped base and features fluted brackets and pediments on each face, with raised shield-like stone plaques on the shorter sides; these plaques are currently without inscriptions. Previously, the family burial place was located in a vault at Shane's Castle, Randalstown. The mausoleum contains niches for 18 coffins. It stands within a conservation area and is on private land.
