Description
Yeomans is a detached house located on St James's Street in South Petherton, dating from the earlier 19th century. The building features ham stone ashlar construction, complemented by a Flemish bond red brick facade with stone dressings. It has a plain clay tiled roof that undulates between steeply pitched stepped coped gables, and brick end chimney stacks.
The house is two storeys high with an attic and consists of two bays. It has horizontal-bar casement windows of an earlier style, with a 2-light window in the first bay and a 3-light window in the second bay. All windows have iron-framed opening lights and false louvred shutters, with the lower windows featuring keystoned ashlar lintels. Between the bays is a 20th-century projecting porch that has a pitched tiled roof and a plain boarded door.
On the south gable, there is a lean-to extension that matches the main building and includes a 2-light window. The north gable, made of ashlar, has a 2-light window on each level, including the attic. The interior has not been seen.
