Description

This is an early 19th-century house located on Friars Street in Bridgwater. The house is constructed of Flemish-bond brick with stone copings, a cornice, stepped voussoirs, a platband, and cills, and has a mansard pantile roof with brick stacks to the gable ends. It is a double-depth plan building, with a large rear wing added in the 1980s, incorporating a cellar.

The house is arranged over two storeys with an attic, and originally presented a symmetrical three-window facade. There are three raking dormers to the attic, and the cornice returns below the parapet. All windows are 8/8-pane sashes. The central doorway, dating from around 1900, features a leaded light transom above a recessed six-panel door, glazed to the top, flanked by fixed leaded lights with segmental tops. A former doorway is visible to the far right, with a segmental brick arch, now blocked.

The interior features a hall with six-panel doors set in moulded architraves, a reeded cornice, and a ceiling rose. The cellar has segmental brick arches to the ceiling.
