Description
A former Bible Christian Chapel, built in 1873. The chapel is constructed of local stone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a Welsh slate roof. It features a sawn stone ridge, a stepped north gable with obelisk finials, and a plain south gable. The single-storey, two-bay by one-bay structure has a plinth to the north gable front. A semi-circular arched doorway is framed by an ashlar surround, incorporating a four-panelled door with a radial-glazed fanlight above. A single semi-circular arched window with a chamfered stone surround and a cast-iron window light is positioned above the doorway, with similar windows to the side walls. A rectangular plaque with a beaded frame, the inscription now unreadable, is set into the crown of the north gable. The interior reportedly retains its original fittings. The Bible Christians began meeting in the area in 1824, reformed in 1838, and the chapel was used by Methodists until 1956. It was taken over by the Elim Pentecostal Church in 1964, and appeared unused in 1986.
