Description
Oakhill Methodist Church, originally a Wesleyan Chapel, was built in 1825. It features Doulting ashlar stone and has a hipped slate roof. The building is rectangular in shape with a simple facade, standing two stories tall and comprising two bays. It has pointed arch windows set in reveals, with large sash windows that include glazing bars in a Gothic style. The central entrance consists of a pointed arch door opening with paired six-panel doors and a fanlight above. There is a blind quatrefoil at the center of the first floor, which includes an inset stone panel with the inscription "Wesleyan Church 1825" in cut stone letters. Each side of the church has a three-bay return. At the rear, there is a 20th-century flat-roofed outshut. Adjacent to the church are a pair of panelled ashlar gate piers topped with capstones, and a wrought iron gate featuring a foliate head design on each rail.
