Description
The Barracks is a former poor-house, now divided into three dwellings, built in the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features a double-Roman tile roof with coped verges, along with brick and rendered stacks and ashlar bases. The building has a rectangular shape and presents a severe three-storey facade with seven bays. The windows are stone-mullioned, with two-light windows above and three-light windows on the ground floor. There are three door openings; the central one features an architrave door opening with a stone doorcase, a pulvinated frieze with a triple keystone, and a pediment supported by rusticated pilasters, leading to a plank door. The outer door openings have plank doors and simple 20th-century gabled porches.
