Description

The entrance gateway to the former Charlton House, which has since been demolished, dates from the late 18th century. It features four stone Doric columns that support a painted wooden architrave adorned with a triglyph frieze and a modillion cornice, along with wreaths and crests in the metopes. On either side of the gateway are plain square ashlar gate piers, accompanied by curved ashlar quadrant walls. The gateway is completed with cast-iron ornamental gates that have grilles on each side.
