Description
Bowlish House is a house dated 1732, featuring a rendered exterior with an ashlar plinth and a hipped slate roof. The building is designed in a Palladian style with a "U"-plan layout. It has two storeys and an attic, comprising seven bays with narrow sash windows that have glazing bars, all set within moulded stone architraves. Each window has a pulvinated frieze and a triangular pediment, except for the third and fifth bays which have segmental pediments.
The central door opening is framed by a stone doorcase with a triangular pediment supported by three-quarter Tuscan columns. The entrance is accessed by five stone steps. The building features corner pilasters, a modillion cornice, and three flat-headed dormers on the roof. There are two ornamental lead rainwater heads dated "1732". Inside, the ground floor rooms are adorned with panelling, and there is a dog-leg staircase with turned and twisted balusters, a ramped moulded handrail, and foliated tread brackets.
