Description
This building is a barn that has been converted into a squash court, located about 30 meters west of Gerbestone Manor. It dates from the 18th century and was altered around 1935 by Hubert Lidbetter. The structure is made of red brick in Flemish bond with weatherboarding on the gable ends and features a thatched roof. The roof has been extended on the south side to create a verandah, while the north side has a corrugated asbestos extension over a garage. Inside, there is a squash court with a viewing platform at the east end, which overlooks changing rooms, and the garage is situated to the north. The south side has a five-bay verandah, and the east front features a three-light window in the gable end with decorative leading. The center has weatherboarding leading to a lintel of a four-centred arch head doorframe with double doors, and there are garage doors in the end bay to the right, along with another three-light window with a hoodmould in between. The overall design is very picturesque.
