Description
Heale Farmhouse is a farmhouse that possibly dates from the 16th century, with a 17th century wing. It was refenestrated in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is rendered, with random rubble lias exposed at the rear and a roughcast lower wing at the back. It has a double Roman tiled roof, and the gablet of the west wing appears above the ridge of the main block. The west wing features a coped verge with an ashlar stone stack, while there is a brick stack on the left gable end and a rebuilt brick stack between the first and second bays on the right. The plan is not clear without an internal inspection, but it is thought to be a 3-cell and cross passage layout facing roughly south, with the west wing and lower wing behind the hall possibly concealing a lateral stack. The farmhouse has two storeys and four bays, with 20th century fenestration. There are two windows on the left flanking the entrance that rise just through the eaves, and two windows to the right set below. The entrance is located between the first and second bays on the left, and there is one bay in the left return wing with sash windows, along with an inserted 20th century window. The interior has not been seen.
