Description
Porch House is a house dating from the mid-17th century, originally built for John Westovers, with further work done in the 18th century and 19th-century additions and alterations. The building is constructed of random rubble and features a double Roman tile roof with three brick stacks. It is two storeys high and has a symmetrical facade with one bay on the left containing 19th-century sash windows, and two bays on the right featuring three-light leaded casements with original quadrants and latches.
At the center, there is a gabled projecting upper room that is timber framed and roughcast, supported by two circular stone columns, creating a porch. Each face of the porch has a single three-light casement with ovolo moulded mullions and leaded lights. Beneath the porch is a studded plank door set in a plain wooden frame. There is a short section of wall below the porch columns, with a central wrought-iron gate.
