Description
The Thatched Cottage is a building located in Kilmersdon Village, originally two cottages that have been converted into a single dwelling. It dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century. The structure is made of coursed rubble and features a thatched roof with brick stacks.
The cottage is two storeys high with an irregular arrangement of windows. The road-facing side has one bay on the left, which is blank except for a small circular window, and two bays on the right. On the first floor, there are two-light stone-mullioned windows with very shallow eyebrows, while the ground floor has a two-light casement window with a wooden lintel. A plank door is situated in the centre, topped with a gabled hood. The left side of the building continues in a style that roughly matches the front.
