Description
The Yeovil Junction Railway Road Bridge is a railway bridge over a road, built around 1860. It features squared stone, likely from Chilmark, with the interior face of the arch made of red brickwork. The bridge has a stilted semi-circular arch with a stepped extrados and a prominent keystone. There is an impost course situated between battered and raked pilasters. The elliptical raked abutments are topped with a moulded parapet, which is crowned with a handrail made of rail section uprights and rods threaded through. This bridge is noted for its graceful design and architectural consideration, built for the London and South Western Railway, which opened in 1860.
