Description
Nos. 5-10 Victoria Square is a group of flax workers' cottages with stabling, now comprising six dwellings. They were built in the early 19th century and altered around 1980. The cottages are constructed from limestone rubble with freestone quoins and copings, and feature a pantile roof that is hipped to the left. There are brick stacks at the gable ends of two cottages on the right and one at the centre ridge of the left-hand range. The building has an L-shape plan and is two storeys high, with each cottage having a two-window range. All windows are 20th-century two-light casements, and all doors are 20th-century six-panel doors, located under 20th-century porches. The ground-floor windows have gauged brick arches, with the left-side windows being wide segmental arches, possibly indicating former carriage entrances. The two cottages on the right are lower and set back. The interiors were not inspected.
