Description
The Rock Cave, located immediately southeast of the Shell Grotto at St Audrie's, is an ornamental garden cave dating from the 1830s or 1840s. This small building is constructed from stone rubble and built into a bank. It features a rough stone arch that leads into a short tunnel, which opens into a small circular chamber on the northwest side, topped with a corbelled stone roof. The cave is designed in a deliberately rustic style, using various sizes of rocks to create a Picturesque appearance. It is situated next to St Audrie's house, the orangery, and the shell grotto, all of which are listed buildings. The gardens surrounding St Audrie's are also registered as grade II.
