Description

This dovecote, located about 50 metres west of The Priory, is possibly from the 14th century. It is constructed from cut and squared Ham stone with ashlar dressings and is currently roofless. The dovecote has a circular plan and features four buttresses that rise almost to full height. There is a small moulded pointed-arched doorway on the north side, set low to the ground. Inside, there are 12 tiers of resting boxes, with approximately 43 boxes per tier. A small square window is positioned high on the south side. This structure is part of a medieval complex of significant historical importance and complements the setting of The Priory.
