Description

Palmer Street Farmhouse is a detached 17th-century farmhouse located on the north side of Palmer Street in South Petherton. The front facade is constructed of ham stone ashlar, while the sides and rear are rubble, with a thatched roof punctuated by brick end chimney stacks and coped gables. The two-storey farmhouse has an attic and originally comprised five bays. It features ovolo-mould mullioned windows set in wave-mould recesses, each with individual labels. The windows have horizontal-bar lights; the outer bays are two-light, and the central three bays are three-light. A cambered-arched doorway, with a 19th-century part-glazed door, is situated in the lower central bay and is protected by a timber and glass porch with a tiled roof. The east gable has a single-storey lean-to extension along part of its length, and two single-light attic windows with hoodmoulds. A further lean-to extension is attached to the west gable, with an outshut at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
