Description
This barn, located about 12 meters north of Whitehall Farmhouse, is likely from the 17th century and was extended at the west end in the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed of random rubble local stone and has a corrugated sheeting roof that is half-hipped at the west end. The barn has a plan that includes five and a half bays, with the west gable end facing the road and the north side looking onto the foldyard.
On the west end, there are two pointed arch openings, with the lower one featuring remains of decorative cast iron grilles. The north front has various openings, while the east end showcases open timber framing on a stone plinth. The south side includes a pointed arch doorway. Inside, there are five pairs of raised jointed cruck trusses and double jurlins, but no wind braces. Alterations made in the late 18th to early 19th century enhanced the elevations closest to Whitehall Farmhouse.
