Description

This is an early to mid-19th century house, prominently set back from Wellington Road. It is a large three-story building with a basement, constructed of ashlar. The central section of the facade projects slightly. Architectural details include a cornice, blocking course, pilasters with panels, and a sill band to the first floor, with the ground floor being rusticated. The building has three windows to each floor, with architrave surrounds; the central first-floor window is topped by a triangular pediment on consoles. The second-floor windows retain their original sash windows with glazing bars. The ground-floor openings are round-headed, leading to a central doorway approached by a double flight of steps with openwork balustrades. The doorway is fitted with double wooden doors and a traceried fanlight. The building is part of a group value with numbers 2 to 18 (even) on Wellington Road and with the listed buildings on Park Street, excluding St Paul's House.
