Description

This is a late 18th-century farmhouse situated at Stoughton Cross. The house is constructed of coursed and squared rubble with a double Roman tile roof, coped verges, and brick stacks at each end. It presents a symmetrical facade. The two-storey, three-bay design features 5:15:5-pane tripartite sash windows on the first floor and similar 5:20:5-pane windows on the ground floor, all within plain, emphasised surrounds. A central door opening contains a 6-panelled door with the top two panels glazed, sheltered by a tent-canopy hood supported by two turned wooden posts. Lower, gabled outshuts are situated on each side of the main house, both with double Roman tile roofs. The outshut on the left side incorporates a 20th-century three-light window opening. A section of wrought-iron railings extends at right angles from the left return, serving as a field boundary.
