Description
Ashton House Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse constructed from squared and coursed rubble with a slate roof and coped verges, featuring two brick stacks. The building is symmetrical and stands two storeys tall. It has six bays and is adorned with 16-light sash windows that have plain stone surrounds and emphasized lintels, with the first-floor windows set flush within their surrounds. The central door opening is located in a panelled recess and features paired three-panelled doors, with the top two panels glazed. A 19th-century gabled wooden hood supported by a pair of turned columns covers the entrance. Inside, the right ground floor room includes a fireplace with a broad fluted wooden surround and a moulded cornice-shell, along with an adjacent cupboard that has a six-panelled door in a fluted surround. There are also two six-panelled doors leading to the hall, both in fluted wooden surrounds.
