Description

The village cross, located on Church Lane in Thornfalcon, is a late 19th-century structure made of red sandstone. It features a two-stage calvary with a chamfered plinth, a square socket that transitions to an octagonal shape, and an octagonal shaft topped with a cross. The socket is inscribed with the years 1883 and 1897. Two sides of the first stage are dated 1902 and 1882, while the other sides are blank. The second stage is dated 1915. Although previously described as originating from the 15th century, the cross appears to be entirely from the late 19th century. It holds a significant position within the village.
