Description
Blake's Farmhouse is a 16th-century farmhouse located in Halse. The building is rendered over cob and features a thatched roof with a brick stack on the right and a stone stack on the left. It has one and a half storeys and consists of four bays. The farmhouse includes 4-light mullion windows, with a first-floor window that has gables projecting through the eaves, and a tiny 2-light window on the right, which may have originally lit the staircase bay. There is a buttress on the left side. The centrally placed cob porch has a gabled thatched roof and built-in seats. The doorway features a 4-centred arch with ovolo moulded surrounds and run-outs, and it is partially restored with a plank door that has ornamental hinges. Although the interior was not viewed, it is reputed to contain good plasterwork.
