Description
This is a barn dating from the 16th to 17th century, with possible enlargement in the 19th century. It is constructed of chert stone random rubble with brick dressings and features a double Roman tiled roof. The barn is oriented roughly east-west and faces south, with the barn section at the west end supported by four pairs of jointed crucks. Beyond this, there is a wall and a two-storey range that was partly obscured at the time of the survey in March 1985, appearing to be ten bays in length. There is one square-headed loft opening at the south-east end, unglazed windows on the ground floor flanking double doors, and another doorway beyond. Additionally, there is a loft opening on the east gable end and a lead-roofed wooden bell-cote at the apex. The barn forms a good group with Gerbestone Manor located to the south.
