Description
This is a garden fountain and pond located about 75 metres east of Dillington House, dating from around 1840, although the centerpiece is believed to be from the 16th century. It is constructed from Ham stone and features a circular pond approximately 3 metres in diameter. The pond has a simple shaped coping or kerb with an ovolo moulding on the inside face. At the center of the pond is an octagonal plinth topped by what appears to be a barley-sugar twist chimney stack with a moulded top, likely originating from the original 16th-century house. This chimney stack is capped with a bell-hip scale-decorated feature that has a stiff-leaf finial. This fountain is noted as the only feature of interest in the garden to the east of Dillington House.
