Description
76 and 78 Friarn Street are a pair of attached cottages built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of Flemish-bond brick and feature a 20th-century pantile mansard roof with roof lights and brick stacks at the gable ends. The cottages have a double-depth plan and rise to two storeys, with each cottage having a one-window range. The doors are adjacent, with the door to No. 78 on the left being a six-panel design with raised and fielded panels, and both cottages have 6/6-pane sash windows on each floor. The brickwork of No. 78 is painted, while No. 76 has a 20th-century door and windows. Inside, there are some planked doors with wrought-iron strap hinges. These cottages are included for their group value.
