Description
The Thatch is a farmhouse that dates from the 16th and 17th centuries, with some alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The west elevation is made of colourwashed brick set on a coursed and squared lias plinth, topped with thatch, while the east elevation is rendered and colourwashed, featuring a double-Roman tile roof and brick stacks. The west side has a single storey and attic with two bays, and includes 19th-century two and three-light casements with glazing bars on the first floor, which are sheltered by thatched bonnet hoods. The east side has 20th-century casements and a divided plank door. Inside, there is a fireplace on the ground floor with a moulded cambered wooden bressumer on moulded jambs, a compartmental ceiling with chamfered beams, and a well-preserved early roof.
