Description
The churchyard cross, located in the churchyard 3 metres north of the transept of the Church of St David, is possibly from the 13th century and sits on a 19th-century base. There may be steps beneath a turf mound, which is enclosed by an octagonal dwarf wall. The cross is made of Doulting stone and features a square block base that measures about 820mm wide and 500mm high, with a weathered top and broached corners. The shaft is approximately 350mm square at the base and chamfers to plain steps, with a surviving height of nearly 2 metres. On the west face, there is a carving of a bishop in full episcopal dress, holding a wallet on his left, which is believed to represent Saint David. This figure is set under a canopy adorned with crockets and a finial.
