Description

This barn, located 40 metres south of Newton Farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed from local stone that has been cut and squared, topped with a double Roman clay tile roof featuring coped gables. The barn consists of six bays, four of which have an intermediate floor. It has a double collar truss roof. On the northeast side, there are modern doors and two simple wooden casements. The southwest side features two sets of full-height doors. Additionally, a drive shaft for a former Lister engine remains in place on the northwest gable, although the engine house below has been altered.
