Description
Manor Hall and School is a village hall and school built in 1873, as indicated by a central stone plaque, with a further addition to the rear dated 1895 by Rev. J. H. Stephenson. The building is constructed of coursed and squared rubble, with some dressed stone, and features prominent buttresses with offsets, coped verges with finials, and a slate roof with fishscale bands. It is designed in a Gothic style and is a single storey structure with a layout of 2:1:2 bays. The windows are 2-light stone mullioned with pointed heads and stopped labels. A prominent gabled porch is present, along with a large rose window in the gable that has patterned tracery and stained glass. The entrance features a four-centred arch door opening with one recessed order on colonnettes, leading to a pointed arch inner door opening with a plank door and elaborate strap hinges. The interior of the hall and school reflects a similar flamboyant Gothic style, with the hall showcasing an elaborate arch-braced roof with painted decoration, intricate timber dado panelling, and a fireplace in a traceried stone surround, along with additional lesser fireplaces in the school.
