Description
Nos 1-5 are a row of five cottages located in Pitminster Village, dating from around 1830. They are constructed from chert random rubble and feature a hipped triple Roman tiled roof with six brick stacks, some of which have been renewed. The cottages are one and a half storeys high, with the upper storey unlit on the south (entrance) front. Originally, there were ten one-up-one-down cottages, but they have since been converted into five dwellings. The cottages have 20th-century wooden casement windows with multiple panes and cement lintels. Five of the cottages have weatherboarded, gabled porches and asbestos slate roofs. The upper storey is only lit at the rear. These cottages were built and funded by the parish for the elderly and poor, and they are included in the register primarily for their historical significance.
