Description
The Dean monument is a chest tomb located about 8 metres south-west of the nave of the Church of St. Andrew in Brympton D'Evercy. It dates from the 17th century and is made of Ham stone. The tomb features a moulded base with plain sides and flanks, and it has cyma-recta coving leading to a heavy flat top. The monument commemorates the wife of Thomas Dean of Avellton (possibly Alvington), who died in 1682. The inscription is presented in a raised panel, featuring a figure 8 designed to resemble an hourglass on the left and a circle with a simplistic face on the right.
