Description
Gotton Manor is a house dating from the early 19th century, which incorporates parts of an earlier dwelling. At the time of the survey in May 1984, it was undergoing conversion into an old people's home. The building is roughcast over rubble with a dressed stone plinth and features an added cornice that includes a small, unidentified coat of arms at the center. The central bay of the house slightly projects forward and it has a hipped slate roof with brick stacks on the right return. The structure is double-piled with a service wing at the rear that shows evidence of the earlier dwelling on the site.
The house has two storeys and is arranged in a 2:1:2 bay configuration. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows, while the ground floor features long 6-pane sash windows. There is a central segmental-headed recess with half-lazed double doors, sidelights, and a fanlight, along with a flat-roofed wooden Doric porch that has been renewed. Inside, there is a stick stair with a cut string and a mahogany handrail, as well as chamfered beams in the rear room, which are likely from the 17th century.
