Description

Newton House is an early 19th-century house located on the south side of Old Coach Road in Compton Bishop. It is constructed of colourwashed stucco and features a hipped pantile roof with two brick stacks. The building is symmetrical, standing three storeys tall with three bays. It has sash windows with glazing bars and stepped voussoirs above the ground and first floor openings. The central entrance has a semi-circular headed door opening framed by a reeded surround, which includes an emphasised keystone and imposts. The door itself is a six-panelled design with a plain fanlight above. Inside, the front ground floor rooms are fitted with panelled window shutters, and there is a staircase that dates from the same period as the house.
