Description
Nos 2 and 2A Bath Street are a pair of buildings dating to approximately 1811-1820. They are constructed in ashlar with a hipped mansard roof. The front is wide, with four bays, and features rusticated quoins and panelled piers with Ionic capitals, which have palmette detailing. The outer bays are treated with channelled breaks. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars. A modillion cornice runs along the top, above a parapet. The ground floor is channelled.
No. 2 has a shop front dating from the early 20th century, though it retains one Ionic pilaster. There are two doorways: the left-hand one is tall and has a segment-headed form with a struck voussoir surround, a four-panel door, a traceried fanlight above an overlight. The right-hand doorway has a six-panel door set within a partially blind opening. The building also has a projecting porch with Ionic pilasters at No. 2A, which has an eight-panel double door. A low, segment-headed opening with struck voussoirs is located to the right of the porch, and a modern shop front is set into an older position.
