Description
Burrow Hill Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. It is constructed of coursed and squared rubble with freestone dressings and has a slate roof with coped verges. The building features two storeys and is arranged in a 2:2 bay configuration. It has a variety of windows, including 2, 3, 4, and 5-light hollow-moulded stone-mullioned windows with iron casements and square-paned leaded lights, along with quadrants and stopped labels on the ground floor windows.
The central door opening is flanked by the two bay sets and features a 4-centred arch head. The door itself is of high quality, studded with moulded ribs, and is protected by a pair of 20th-century glazed doors. There is a porch with a front-facing gable and a ball finial, which includes an outer door opening with a 4-centred arch and a label. Additionally, there is an 18th or 19th-century brick wall at right angles to the front, topped with freestone coping. Inside, the farmhouse contains two fireplaces, each with surrounds featuring 4-centred arch heads, including a former kitchen fireplace that has a broad wooden bressumer.
