Description
This is a manor house and farmhouse, later divided into two separate dwellings. The original structure dates from the 16th century, with substantial rebuilding occurring in the 17th century and minor alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of roughly coursed and squared rubble, with double-Roman and pantiled roofs, featuring coped verges and copings at the roof divisions. A 19th or 20th-century gabled dormer and skylight are also present. It follows a cross-passage plan. The arrangement is of two storeys and an attic, with a 2:2:2 bay arrangement, where each section has eaves and a ridge at a slightly different height. Windows are predominantly 4-light moulded wooden-mullioned, with wooden lintols; some have iron casements with quadrants, and the majority have leaded lights. There are three door openings on the frontage facing Lower Road, now with 20th-century doors, one incorporating an open gabled porch. The interior retains features of interest, including exposed beams and a fireplace with a moulded bressumer.
