Description
Bowling Green Cottage and the attached stable block were built around 1914 and designed by E. Guy Dawber. The cottage is constructed from local stone coursed rubble and features a plain clay tile roof with upswept ends and simple gables, along with a central stone chimney stack. It has a double roof plan and is a single storey with an attic, comprising two bays. The cottage includes three-light steel leaded light casement windows set in architraved surrounds, which match those of Bowling Green House. The central entrance has a boarded door with a hexagonal glazed panel, also framed by an architrave and topped with a flat hood supported by corbel brackets.
The stable wing at the rear is designed in a 'U' shape, made from coursed stone rubble, with some sections featuring weatherboarding and brick infill. It has a plain clay tile roof with a raised hipped portion in the center and includes one stone chimney stack. The central part of the stable has been converted into garages, which feature a loft door in a tall hipped dormer above.
This property serves as an ancillary building to an important 20th-century house.
