Description
The Chappell family chest tomb, located in the churchyard 8 metres south of the porch of the Church of the Holy Ghost, dates from the mid-18th century. It is made of red sandstone and features a ledger top with a moulded cornice and plinth. The east and west ends are curved out towards a heavily moulded dado. The west end displays a skull and crossbones, while the east end is adorned with a wreath. There are two inscribed panels on the north and south sides dedicated to members of the Chappell and Hook families. The north and west fronts show signs of damage.
