Description

No 219 is a farmhouse, now a dwelling, dating from the late 16th to early 17th century. The front wall has been raised and extended by one bay to the south in the late 19th to early 20th century. The building is constructed of squared and coursed blue lias and sandstone, with Ham stone dressings. It features a double Roman tiled roof and brick stacks with moulded caps at the right gable end and to the left of the cross passage.

The plan consists of two cells and a cross passage, with the southern bay being an extension. The house is two storeys high and has a layout of 1:1:2 bays. The left end bay is set back and unlit on the upper floor. On the right, there are three 3-light ovolo moulded windows, some of which have leading. The ground floor on the left has a 20th-century 2-light casement window below a wooden lintel, while to the left of the porch is a 4-light steeply chamfered mullioned window with a small Ham stone stair light lancet between. To the right is a 4-light casement window and a similar lancet at the end bay. The porch has a 20th-century lean-to roof and features a depressed 4-centred arched moulded doorway with a plank door.

On the left return, there is a 20th-century casement window below a wooden lintel at the gable end, along with a square-headed doorway in the outshut. The interior has not been seen but may contain features of interest. The southern bay may have originally been an agricultural addition that has since been converted for domestic use.
