Description
Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with an enlargement in the early 18th century. It is constructed from red sandstone rubble, with a quoins on the left side, and has a slate roof. Stone stacks are located to the right of the entrance, while brick stacks, rebuilt in the mid-20th century, are present at the gable ends and on the right return elevation. The south-facing main elevation features gabled projections at the rear, arranged irregularly. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with a 3:2 bay arrangement. It contains 2-, 3-, 4-, and 6-light casement windows with glazing bars. A red sandstone porch with a flat roof is situated in the third bay on the left, featuring a segmented-headed opening with a 6-light door and flanking 5-light windows. The north-east rear elevation includes a gabled wing, which contains an early 17th-century 4-centred arch doorway with a stud and plank door. Historic records indicate this farmhouse was not the original manor house in Halse. The extent of any earlier building is unknown, as the interior was inaccessible when surveyed in March 1983.
