Description
Manor Farmhouse is a manor house that has been converted into a farmhouse. It dates from the early 17th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It is believed to have been built for John May, who was the Sheriff of Somerset. The building features coursed rubble and an ashlar garden front with a parapet and coping, along with ashlar stacks and a double Roman tile roof.
The farmhouse is two storeys high, with the garden front displaying a layout of one bay on the left and three bays to the right. The left bay is topped with a front-facing gable that has moulded coping and a carved ornamental finial. There are 2, 3, and 4-light moulded stone mullioned windows on the ground floor, with transoms and in the left bay of the first floor. A continuous string course runs along the first floor and across the gable face. A 20th-century door opening has been inserted between the third and fourth bays, featuring a half-glazed door.
The entrance front includes a two-storey porch with a 2-light stone mullioned window on the first floor. The door opening is a 4-centred arch in a freestone surround, leading to a panelled inner door.
