Description
The Old Rectory is a rectory that has been converted into a house. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century, though it may include some medieval elements. There have been 20th-century alterations, especially at the rear. The building is constructed of random rubble with a triple-Roman tile roof and features brick stacks as well as a rubble stack.
The garden front is symmetrical and positioned at right angles to the road. It is two storeys high with three bays, featuring two-light stone mullioned windows on the ground floor, each light containing a sash with glazing bars. The central door opening is framed by a freestone architrave and has a six-panelled door, with the top four panels being glazed. Above the door is a triangular pediment supported by brackets. At the rear, there is a lower height wing that is also at right angles to the main structure, which includes a narrow medieval niche on the ground floor with a foiled head and a 20th-century figure.
