Description
Park Lodge, located about 200 metres south west of Farleigh Castle, is a lodge built around 1806. It is constructed from ashlar Doulting stone with a Welsh slate roof and features a parapeted gabled design in the Perpendicular Gothic style. The building is two stories high and has an L-shaped plan with a central entrance on the south side.
The lodge has a rubble stone plinth and weathered string courses at both the floor and ceiling levels, topped with an embattled parapet. The corners are accentuated by two-stage buttresses that have octagonal pinnacles with domed caps and ball finials, although only two of these remain. The stepped end gables are adorned with central corbelled octagonal pinnacles, also featuring domed caps and ball finials.
A projecting entrance porch showcases four-centred moulded arches on three sides, along with a weathered string course and an embattled parapet. The porch is further supported by diagonal corner buttresses that have pinnacles and finials. The lodge includes two-light, four-centre stone mullion windows with square heads and dripmoulds. Notably, the east gable at ground level features a stone angled bay window with rectangular lead glazing.
