Description

ST75NE NORTON ST. PHILIP CP FARLEIGH HUNGERFORD. 1/249 Park Lodge, about 200 metres South West of Farleigh Castle -

GV II

Lodge. Circa 1806. Ashlar Doulting stone, welsh slate, parapeted gabled roofs. Perpendicular Gothic style. 2-storey L-plan with central entrance to south. Rubble stone plinth, weathered string courses at floor and ceiling levels, embattled parapet. Diagonally at the corners; 2-stage buttresses with octagonal pinnacles, domed caps and ball finials, only 2 survive. Stepped end gables with central, corbelled octagonal pinnacles with domed caps and ball finials. Projecting entrance porch with 4 centred moulded arches on 3 sides, weathered string course and embattled parapet and diagonal corner buttresses with pinnacles and finials. 2-light 4-centre stone mullion windows under square head with dripmoulds. In east gable at ground level; a stone angled bay window, retangular lead glazing.
