Description

This is a range of terraced houses at 77-83 Selwood Road, likely dating from the late 17th or early 18th century and subsequently altered. The buildings are two storeys high and constructed from roughly coursed rubble stone. They have pantile roofs with eaves at varying heights, along with stone or brick chimneys. Originally, each house had a single window, but No. 78 has two. No. 77 was altered in the mid-19th century with block dressings and cross-glazed sash windows. Nos. 82 and 83 have mid-19th century cross-glazed sash windows set within flat frames. The remaining houses feature three-light wooden mullion windows on the first floor, with varying designs on the ground floor. The windows of No. 78 are two-light, with the right-hand window featuring an early 18th-century ovolo mullion or stone support. No. 80 has a four-light wooden mullion window on the ground floor. Doors are located to the left and are mostly half-glazed. All the window and door openings are topped with timber lintels. Gabled extensions are visible at the rear. Inside No. 78, a newel staircase is located beside the fireplace and is accessed via a panelled cupboard door.
