Description
Dorford House and the Almonry are former almshouses that have been converted into two houses. The building features an oblong freestone panel above the central door, which has incised lettering stating, "This house was built by Sir Charles Kemys - Tynte Bart., and given to the Poor for ever, 1780." The front is made of random rubble, and it has a brick return with a tile roof and three brick ridge stacks. The architectural style is Gothick, and the structure is two storeys high with seven bays. The ground floor has obtuse-pointed, two-light stone-mullioned windows with Y-tracery, while the first floor has similar windows but with four-centred arch heads, all featuring leaded lights. The central door opening is ogee-headed and has a dressed stone surround with a half-glazed door. Additionally, there is another door opening inserted in the second bay from the left, which also has a half-glazed door.
