Description

This is a row of five red brick houses, numbered 57 to 61, built around 1830 to 1840. They are located on Falsgrave Road, and are lower than the adjacent properties at numbers 47 to 55 due to the sloping ground. Numbers 59 and 61 have been painted. The houses have two-storey fronts with basements, and feature two-bay designs with a single window over the entrance. They each include two-storey and basement bows with flat eaves, which are topped with a frieze. The windows in the bows are tripartite sashes with intact glazing bars, and have flat stucco surrounds. The front doors are made of six fielded panels, each with a two-pane fanlight above, set within doorcases featuring panelled pilasters and an entablature. Numbers 29 to 73 (the odd numbers) and the front walls of numbers 29 to 45 (the odd numbers) form a group.
