Description
The boundary wall with gates to the church and school in Copt Hewick was built in 1876. It is constructed of brick, featuring sandstone and ashlar elements, and includes wooden gates. The wall is approximately 150 meters long and 1.5 meters high, running along the north side of the church and extending to the road frontage to connect with the school. There are steps leading down at the point where the church and school meet. The brickwork incorporates bands of red and blue bricks, topped with ashlar gabled coping.
There are two sets of gates for the church, which are flanked by sandstone piers with ashlar bases and caps, featuring chamfered main columns and pyramidal caps. The gates have four panels with trefoil open sections and wrought-iron crosses, along with an overthrow. The school gate is supported by brick piers with moulded stone caps and features a plain wooden gate with wrought-iron hinges.
